Kudos to Kentucky and Oregon for looking ahead to the end of the Covid-19 public health emergency which could result in millions of people being kicked off Medicaid and fear that Obamacare subsidies that helped millions of people buy coverage will expire at the end of 2022.
An estimated 85,000 Oregonians and at least 37,000 Kentuckians will be eligible to enroll in the proposed plans as soon as next year. A basic health program offers low-cost insurance for people who make up to twice the federal poverty level – about $55,000 for a family of four – and do not qualify for Medicaid.
